16 Scholarships Available!

Greetings:

The brothers & sister of Fraternity lodge #6 has initiated a scholarship program in hopes that the program would grow. Our program awards $1000 to twelve selected people obtaining a high school diploma or equivalent, and $500 to six selected people already in college at SMCC.

Our requirements are not too difficult, but we do insist that they be enforced.

Available Scholarships:

High School Diploma: Twelve (12) $1,000 scholarships are available for anyone graduating with a high school diploma or equivalent.

College Scholarships: Six (6) $500 scholarships to students already attending SMCC and going on their second year.

Member Scholarships: $500 scholarship every six months provided you attend 75% of the meetings during that six-month period and continues every six months you attend 75% of the meetings. Can be male or female and at least 16 years of age to join.

Program Guidelines & Priorities:

*Though it isn’t a requirement, greater attention will be paid to applications of students planning on attending a certificate, or degree program that fall under our mission.” visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead, and educate the orphan.” (Can provide an extra paragraph on required essay as to why your chosen degree fits our mission. Not planning to obtain a degree that fits our mission doesn’t disqualify you.)

* Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0, and plan to attend any certified certificate program, or attend a 2- or 4-year college.

* Scholarship funds will be awarded to the student at Fraternity #6 I.O.O.F. At 651 Forest Ave. Portland, ME sometime in late June. Winners will be notified of the date and time. Checks will be made payable directly to the college and not to the student. It will be the student’s responsibility to submit the check to the University. The winner must supply Fraternity Lodge #6 with degree and college information. (If unable to attend other arrangement can be made by calling the Scholarship Chairman.)

* Application deadline is June 1 and must be postmarked no later than midnight that day. Late applications are not accepted.
